A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL ATTACHE SHOW CHOIR UPON RECEIVING THE GRAND CHAMPION AWARD AT THE SINGSATIONAL INVITATIONAL IN ANDERSON, INDIANA, AND AT THE SOUTH CENTRAL CLASSIC IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA.

WHEREAS, the Clinton High School Attach Show Choir was recently awarded Grand Champion at the Singsational Invitational in Anderson, Indiana, and the South Central Classic in Birmingham, Alabama, receiving awards for best vocals, best choreography and best instrumental ensemble at both competitions; and

WHEREAS, the Clinton High School Attach Show Choir was formed in September 1980 by Winona Costello; and

WHEREAS, the first show was composed of 62 members, and was one of the largest dancing and singing groups in the South; and

WHEREAS, during the second year of formation, the Attach Show Choir dropped its size to 52 members, with sophomores composing two-thirds of the group; and

WHEREAS, in 19 years of existence, the Clinton High School Attach Show Choir has finished first on 31 occasions, second on five occasions, third on three occasions and fourth on two occasions; and

WHEREAS, this year's group includes 42 singer/dancers, 17 crew members and 16 members of the pit; and

WHEREAS, in 1992, David and Mary Fehr began managing the Attach Show Choir, and since that time, the Attach Show Choir has recorded 19 first place awards, three second place awards and one fourth place award, an 83% winning percentage; and

WHEREAS, the Attach Show Choir packs the building anytime they compete because people appreciate their dedication, hard work and talent; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Attach Show Choir are truly wonderful ambassadors for Mississippi, and they continue to set a standard of excellence that is unrivaled throughout the country; and

WHEREAS, the Attach Show Choir has performed at numerous chambers of commerce meetings, business meetings, schools, and educators' meetings; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend the outstanding achievements of the youth of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the Clinton High School Attach Show Choir upon receiving the Grand Champion Award at the Singsational Invitational in Anderson, Indiana, and at the South Central Classic in Birmingham, Alabama.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Attach Show Choir and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
